As we forge ahead, we recognize that the work of Indian Country never truly ends. Our unwavering goal is to diligently fight for the rights and sovereignty of our Member Tribes on Capitol Hill, within the Administration, and in the Supreme Court. Together, we will ensure that Tribal Gaming and the values that underpin our sovereignty remain protected and empowered for generations to come.”
In addition, Bean remarked, “Participating in the Arizona Indian Gaming Expo reaffirms our dedication to enhancing our efforts and expanding our outreach. The conversations we engage in during this event are crucial for exploring the future of tribal gaming and ensuring its legacy for generations to come.”
The Expo featured various educational sessions and panel discussions that addressed critical topics, including sports betting integration, renewable energy solutions, broadband expansion, and the socio-economic impact of tribal gaming on local communities. These discussions highlighted the significance of innovation and collaboration in fostering sustainable growth and empowering tribal economies. Throughout the two-day event, participants engaged in in-depth sessions covering cybersecurity measures, energy sustainability, and the vital role of the Tribal Vote in shaping political landscapes, equipping tribal nations with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the industry’s evolving challenges and seize new growth opportunities.
On Thursday, IGA Chairman Ernie Stevens, Jr. spoke to the AIGA Arizona Tribal Leadership, emphasizing the critical role of the Native American vote in the upcoming national elections. He highlighted the IGA’s Native Vote initiatives as a priority across Indian Country, collaborating with sister organizations to launch a robust campaign to mobilize Native voters. Stevens stressed that engaging Native people in the electoral process is essential for ensuring their voices are heard, and their interests represented, making the Native American vote a powerful force in shaping the nation’s future.
He said, “As we stand on the brink of one of the most crucial election cycles in United States history, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment where our collective voice can shape the policies and outcomes that affect our lives, families, and future. We must recognize the profound importance of the Native American vote—not just for our immediate communities, but for the very fabric of our democracy.”
“Our greatest challenge remains the protection and promotion of tribal sovereignty. We must engage our communities to elect candidates who understand and respect our treaties and advocate for our unique needs and rights. These candidates must prioritize our voices and concerns in their policies and actively represent us through their actions.” Stevens added.
“We are at a critical juncture in our nation’s history—a moment that calls for every voice to be heard. In these upcoming elections on November 5th, our tribal communities in my home state of Wisconsin and Arizona have the power to make a significant difference, which is huge.”
The AIGA Expo continued with a closing luncheon, continuing the election discussion-themed “Tribal Voting Analysis: 2025 & Beyond,” where discussions focused on enhancing voter engagement and protecting voting rights within tribal communities. This initiative strives to fortify the Tribal Vote as a significant catalyst for change in Arizona and beyond.
