| WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Indian Gaming Association encourages Tribal leaders, Tribal gaming regulators, gaming commissioners, operators, and member Tribes to join today’s U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs roundtable, “Tracking Prediction Markets’ Exponential Growth: Tribal Implications and Beyond,” where IGA Vice Chairman Tehassi Hill, Chairman of the Oneida Nation, will testify on behalf of the Indian Gaming Association. The roundtable will examine the rapid expansion of prediction markets and their implications for Tribal governments, Tribal sovereignty, and the future of Indian gaming. • Vice Chairman Hill will join a distinguished panel that includes: • The Honorable Mark Macarro, President, National Congress of American Indians • The Honorable Tehassi Hill, Vice Chairman, Indian Gaming Association • Mr. Jamie Hummingbird, Chairman, National Tribal Gaming Commissioners & Regulators • The Honorable Mathura Sridharan, Solicitor General, State of Ohio • Dr. Harry Levant, Director of Gambling Policy, Public Health Advocacy Institute U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, and U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawaiʻi), Vice Chairman, are scheduled to provide opening remarks. Vice Chairman Hill’s testimony will reinforce the Indian Gaming Association’s longstanding position that sports and casino-style prediction markets constitute gambling and should not be permitted to operate outside the established Tribal, state, and federal gaming regulatory framework. The Association continues to advocate for protecting Tribal sovereignty, preserving the integrity of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), and ensuring that Tribal governments retain their authority over gaming conducted on Tribal lands.
